Smart locks allow you to quickly enter your home using the LittleBird app or the integrated keypad. To function properly, your smart locks require power provided by a set of four AA batteries. As the battery levels drop to critical levels, you may begin to notice that the lock is no longer responding to commands from the LittleBird app, or the keypad stops functioning.
Depending on the model of your lock, the replacement may be slightly different. Before beginning, slide the lock’s cover from the interior of your home and try to slide it upward. If the cover lifts off, continue with Method 1. If the cover can not be removed by simply sliding it upward, continue to Method 2.
Replacing Batteries Method 1
To replace your Kwikset Smart Lock’s batteries:

Slide the battery pack back into the top of the lock
Slide the cover back onto the lock
Replacing Batteries Method 2
Use a screwdriver to remove the three screws from the sides and bottom of the lock
